Netherlands vs Argentina

The World Cup Quarter Finals are upon us. The Netherlands and Argentina will clash in what promises to be an enthralling matchup. Can Lionel Messi push his squad one step closer to the one thing that’s evaded him in his illustrious career, or will the Netherlands defense hold steady?

Netherlands vs Argentina betting preview

This is the kind of game that makes the World Cup so special. The Netherlands back four is unrelenting and they’ll face arguably the most gifted player of all time and his band of explosive attackers. Ice meets fire in this clash of Titans.

The Netherlands not only have the Virgil Van Dijk in their ranks, but two rapid wing backs who both punched in an assist against the USA. Sprinkle in some magic from Cody Gakpo, who had scored in both games prior to that game, and the resurrection of Memphis Depay, and you can see why this side is now 19 games unbeaten in all competitions.

They will absolutely be sniffing blood in the water. Argentina shockingly suffered defeat in their opening group stage game, but they’ve bounced back well since. Lionel Messi scored in his 1000th career game and that goal sent Argentina past the scrappy Socceroos to get to the quarter finals. But Poland? Mexico? Australia? It’s not like Argentina have beaten world class teams to get here. Their reputation may paint the picture of a dominant team, but its one that the Netherlands know they can contend with.

Netherlands vs Argentina betting pick

The Dutch probably hold the defensive advantage, and with Memphis Depay getting better with each game that passes, you can certainly make the argument that they have the blueprint to keep up with Argentina. This game has the makings of a score-draw written all over it, so I’ll be backing both teams to score here.
