Bensalem police make $10 million drug bust

Bensalem police yesterday arrested two California men and seized drugs with an estimated street value of over $10 million, officers announced today.

Investigators said they were conducting surveillance detail around 6:45 p.m. in the area of State Road and American Drive when they saw a blue 2006 Kentworth tractor trailer with a California registration. A few minutes later, officers saw two men walking southbound on State Road and “acting very suspicious” before entering the vehicle and driving away, according to a release sent today.

A Bensalem K-9 officer stopped the truck on the 3700 block of Street Road for a traffic violation and placed it “out of service” for safety violations.

After a drug dog gave a positive indication for narcotics, officers searched the vehicle and recovered 15 kilograms of heroin and 20 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of more than $10 million, police said.

They arrested the driver, Estaban Zalazar Velasco, 35, of Galt, California and the passenger, Juan Ledesma-Nolasco, 48, of Livermore, California. Both men were arraigned and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $1 million bail.
