A bicyclist was killed Friday night by a drunk driver, police said.
The victim was riding around 5:50 p.m. westbound in the bike lane on the 1900 block of East Lehigh Avenue when a Toyota RAV4, driven by Brett Truskin, 22, of the 2200 block of Brewster Drive in Ivyland, driving in the opposite direction hit the biker head on, then slammed into four parked cars, one of which was occupied. The truck then continued on Lehigh and hit another car driven by a man, 52, who was taken to Temple in stable condition with stomach and back pain.
The bicyclist, whose name is not being released pending family notification, was taken to Hahnemann University with head injuries and pronounced dead around 6:45 p.m.
Truskin was taken into custody and charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI, involuntary manslaughter, DUI and related charges.
