Body found in Schuylkill River under the Vine Street Bridge

A body was found in the Schuylkill River this morning under the Vine Street Expressway Bridge in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, police said.

A caller spotted the body and tipped authorities off around 10:30 a.m. The police marine unit retrieved the man from the water.

Police said the only information they could determine is the body is that of a black male. The Medical Examiner will conduct an investigation into the man’s identity and cause of death.
