Congressman Chaka Fattah’s son is in more legal hot water, as the city of Philadelphia has filed a tax lien against Chaka Fattah Jr. for unpaid business privilege taxes, reports said.
The $31,434 lien filed two weeks ago by the city’s Revenue Department is for taxes, penalties and interest owed in 2010 and 2011, the Inquirer reported. The lien could enable the city to freeze the younger Fattah’s bank accounts or prevent the sale of any real estate he owns.
Fattah runs a management consulting firm called 259 Strategies LLC. In February, the FBI delivered subpoenas to Fattah’s condominium at Residences at the Ritz and at an office he had at Delaware Valley High School, an alternative school that Fattah did work for.
According to the Inquirer, Revenue Commissioner Keith Richardson said the lien pre-dates the FBI search, but took months to complete.
Fattah has not commented about either action.
