Boucher solid in 2-1 loss to Bruins

Bruins 2, Flyers 1

What went wrong …

1 Boosh’s turn — After seeing Sergei Bobrovksy go from the ridiculous to the sublime in goal this week, Peter Laviolette called on Brian Boucher for this one. Boosh looked solid for the most part, having no chance on Nathan Horton’s power-play goal that tied it. But when he failed to control the rebound on Dennis Seidenberg’s point blast on another power play, Brad Marchand pounced on it for the game-winner. Look for Laviolette to turn to “Bob” tomorrow in Pittsburgh.

2 Give it away now — The Flyers’ postseason doesn’t figure to last long if they continue giving away the puck in their own end. It’s becoming the norm, rather than the exception, as they cough it up in a danger area or fail to clear the zone. Make those kind of mistakes enough and it’s bound to cost you.

3 Bring on the Penguins — After tomorrow’s critical rematch in Pittsburgh, the Flyers will have six games remaining — three home and away — to the Penguins’ six. Remember, winning the division is critical, since the runner-up can get no better than the No. 4 seed in the East. Almost certainly, though, a tie in the standings would favor the Flyers, since wins in shootouts don’t factor into NHL tiebreakers. Boston, on the other hand, has virtually wrapped up the Northeast and likely the No. 3 seed.
