In 2024, 130 youth under the age of 18 were shot in the city, down about 19% from the year prior, according to the Philadelphia Center for Gun Violence Reporting’s data dashboard.
That rate of decrease trails the overall drop in gun violence among all age groups. Furthermore, the PGVR numbers show that 17 children were killed by gunfire last year – the same number as 2023 – despite a 34% decline in overall homicides.
