Boy, 8, wounded in Frankford shooting

An 8-year-old boy was injured in a shooting Monday afternoon in Frankford, police said.

The child was in stable condition at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children following the incident, which occurred at around 12:45 p.m. on the 1800 block of Gillingham Street, according to authorities.

Police said the boy was found with a gunshot wound to his leg. The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not clear Monday.

Investigators recovered a gun from the scene; however, no one was immediately arrested.
