Brett Brown: Sixers “hope to get” Joel Embiid back after All-Star break

Joel Embiid’s health continues to be the topic of Philly sports talk, and of articles like this, as the Sixers confirmed that the star rookie will travel to New Orleans for this weekend’s All-Star festivities, but won’t actually play.

He has been out since Jan. 27 with a right knee injury, one that has caused much controversy as the Philly front office first called it a bone bruise and later a slight meniscus tear.

The Sixers have a long nine-day break between Wednesday’s tilt in Boston and next Friday’s home game against the red-hot Wizards.

According to Sixers’ head coach Brett Brown, as told to 94WIP, Embiid should be back on the floor for the next home game. Or so hehopes.

“He’s gonna do what he’s doing,” the coach said, “he’s gonna come back after the all-star break and it’s our intention to get him back on the court. Nobody would do that if it was something that we felt was significant. The injury was a bone bruise and I feel like when people hear meniscus, people’s eyes and ears go up and I understand. But really the end game for us, is we hope to get him back on the court after the all-star break.”
