Brothers indicted in conspiracy scheme

Brothers Owen and Larry Moore, of Pottstown and East Hampton, Conn. respectively, have been charged by federal officials in a scheme to defraud a Pennsylvania corporation out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, said the U.S. Attorney’s Office today.

Owen, 50, and Larry, 52, have been charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and conspiring to defraud local company Siemens Corporation of $263,739.84. Owen is further charged with wire fraud.

Between February 2008 and May 2010, Owen worked as a finance manager at Siemens’ Malvern office. Today’s returned indictment alleges that he directed his brother Larry, who owned and operated Benchmark Solutions LLC out of Connecticut, to submit fraudulent invoices to Siemens from Benchmark. Larry deposited 19 checks from Siemens and forwarded half the proceeds to his brother.

The indictment also alleges that Owen defrauded his business out of an additional $42,291.28 that he used for tuition and other unauthorized expenses.

Owen faces 46 to 57 months in prison plus restitution while Larry faces restitution plus 30 to 37 months in prison.
