Car stripped of tires, radio in Northern Liberties

Rude awakening jokes aside, a woman found her Escalade jacked up on cinderblocks and stripped both inside and out near her Northern Liberties home early this morning.

Police notified her shortly before 1 a.m. of the damage to her car, which was parked on the 900 block of Bodine Street. A neighbor told police that he saw two unknown Hispanic men remove the tires and rims from the 2007 Cadillac Escalade and load them into a silver SUV.

The thieves also ripped the dashboard, stereo and electronics from inside the SUV, police said.

Police said they believe the incident was unrelated to a recent car vandalism spree in Mayfair, including a rash of tire thefts early Saturday morning.
