A carjacking suspect led police on a wild chase into New Jersey on Monday night after allegedly shooting a man in Kingsessing.
Police said the suspect, described in multiple media reports as a woman, shot a 28-year-old driver in the back at around 7 p.m. on the 5600 block of Pentridge Street and took his vehicle.
She led officers on a pursuit that ended on the Atlantic City Expressway near the Sicklerville/Williamstown Road exit. Authorities said they recovered a gun, and no law enforcement personnel or bystanders were injured during the chase.
The driver who was shot in Southwest Philadelphia was listed in critical condition at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
Police have not released the name of the suspect.
