Celebrate socially-distanced events at two Philly spots

Sure, large in-person events that normally grace every Philadelphian’s fall calendar might be canceled for 2020, but even without the typical line-up of festivals and happenings, those who are looking to celebrate can still plan for a good time. Headhouse square hotspot The Twisted Tail and South Street vino oasis Jet Wine Bar are both offering private event packages that will get everybody ready to be in celebratory spirits (that are also safe as well.)

The Twisted Tail is already known for its vast whiskey selection and hand-crafted cocktails, and now Philadelphians will also have the chance to experience it first-hand. The Twisted Tail Owner and Expert Mixologist, George Reilly will be able to come to your home and host you and your group of invitees through a virtual cocktail class which includes premium spirits and all ingredients, two hours of cocktail and instruction, plus set up and travel time. The price comes out to be $600 for a group of up to 12 people.

The Twisted Tail

The popular eatery, bar and live music venue is not stopping there; Philadelphians can also purchase an event package that includes a family-style feast, served tableside. According to a release, a whole roasted suckling pig will be deboned, stuffed, roasted, carved tableside by the Chef, and presented with five sides, including a seasonal salad, bbq baked beans, Mac ’n’ cheese, cornbread and a seasonal vegetable. The Pig Roast banquet is for groups of 10-12 (starting at $55 per person) and includes the whole roasted suckling pig, family-style sides, beignets and a private carving chef. Those looking to make the even a bit more spirited as well can also purchase alcohol add-ons as well for an additional price. The restaurant just asks for a week’s notice, but those interested can email georgereilly@thetwistedtail.com for availability and booking. On top of the two specific event offerings, The Twisted Tail is also open to hosting intimate and socially-distanced weddings and celebrations inside the venue or outside in their garden.

Jet Wine Bar is also offering its own spin on safely-distanced celebrations where Philadelphians can purchase virtual wine tastings, where they’ll pair up with a Jet Wine Bar sommelier for an hour-long digital event. The popular South Street spot will set up a Zoom session, provide the Zoom link and also pick a selection of four 5oz samples of wines for the tasting. All tastings come out to be $50 per person and have a minimum requirement of 10 participants. Wines can be picked up onsite at Jet, and it’s also recommended to pick them up the day of for taste. If you like what you sampled, those who participated in the event can also get 10% if off purchasing a bottle as well.

Jet Wine Bar is also offering Philadelphians the chance to host private and socially-distanced events including milestone celebrations, engagement parties or nuptials in its Wine Garden, which opened last summer. The seasonal pop-up is located right next door and will be offering a certain amount of packages as well including a 2-Course Brunch ($30 per person), a 3-Course Garden Picnic ($37 per person) and more as well as a 3-Course Garden Dinner ($49 per person) which includes Farmer’s Baskets, Smoked Pork Spare Ribs, Carolina Gold Risotto and Milk and Cookies on the menu. Open bar beverage packages also can cover the first two hours of the event and can include beer and house wines ($25 per person), beer, house wines and cocktails ($35 per person) and a Premium Package with premium wine selections, curated for your event with all top shelf liquors ($49 per person).
