City basketball heating up

La Salle and Saint Joseph’s might not get the same headlines as other Big 5 schools these days, but throw those records away.

The Explorers and Hawks will meet tonight with city bragging rights on the line. Especially for the Hawks, who are 0-2 vs. the Big 5 this season. La Salle, meanwhile, is 1-1 after beating Penn.

La Salle (9-11 overall) is averaging 77.5 points per game, while giving up 78.5. Saint Joe’s (5-14) is getting 64.3, while surrendering 70.1.

Temple will also be in action today against Charlotte. The Owls (13-5) haven’t lost at the Liacouras Center in 16 games, and are 8-0 there this year.
