Cop run over at traffic stop, shoots at fleeing vehicle

During a routine traffic stop Thursday morning in Strawberry Mansion, Dominique Fallins, 23, was told to exit his vehicle.

Instead, Fallins reached out for Officer Joe Kochmer’s gun and tried to pull him into the car. During the struggle, he put the car in drive and peeled away, police said.

Fallins dragged Kochmerfor several feet along Susquehanna Avenue near 32nd Street before running over his leg and dropping him onto the street.

Kochmer fired his gun once at the car as it drove away, police said.

The description of Fallins’ car — a silver Chevrolet Impala with Ohio plates — spread over police radios across the city leading to a collective hunt for Fallins, of Stanley Street.

Police found the car parked on the 2400 block of Napa Street, and found Fallins with minor injuries a few blocks away on the 2500 block of North 32nd Street.

Kocher, 32, a five-year veteranwho works out of the 22nd District, was treated and released from Temple University Hospital.

Fallins was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, fleeing police, among others.
