Councilman Jim Kenney sent a letter today to president Dan Cathy of fast food chain Chik-fil-A slamming him for a recent interview with The Baptist Press in which he claimed the business operates on “biblical principles” and said he was “guilty as charged” in his support of traditional marriage.
“As an American, you are legally entitled to your opinion, regardless of how insensitive and intolerant it may be,” Kenney’s letter reads. “But as a fellow American and an elected member of Philadelphia City Council, I am entitled to express my opinion as well. So please – take a hike and take your intolerance with you. There is no place for this type of hate in our great city of Brotherly and Sisterly Affection.”
Kenney said that he plans to introduce a resolution during City Council’s next session condemning Chik-fil-A and Cathy for his “expression of intolerance and hate.”
