In a proverbial case of man bites dog, a Philadelphia man has been arrested for assaulting a law enforcement officer after allegedly turning a Taser on a Delaware State Trooper.
The incident happened Thursday morning in Dover. Delaware State Police responded to a 911 call about a suspicious man on the 2000 block of Chestnut Grove Road when suspect Hughie Cooper allegedly tried to flee, according to CBS Philly.
The trooper located Cooper, who allegedly had his hands under his shirt. Authorities said the trooper ordered Cooper to show his hands, but when he did not, she used her stun gun, which briefly subdued him. As she tried to take the Cooper into custody, he grabbed the Taser and stunned the trooper, authorities said.
The shock did not paralyze the trooper, however, and she was able to handcuff him. Cooper, 31, was taken to the hospital for treatment and is being charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and criminal tresspass, CBS Philly reported. He is being held on $10,500 bail.
