Danny boy: Briere gets All-Star invite

The biggest snub in the NHL All-Star game has finally been corrected.

Flyers center Danny Briere had openly complained about not being picked in recent weeks.

However, he was added to the All-Star roster yesterday, replacing Calgary’s Jermoe Iginla, who withdrew for family reasons.

Briere leads the Flyers with a team-high 24 goals, which is also tied for sixth-best in the league.

“The one thing I can tell you is that I’m really excited to have the chance to take my kids,” Briere said. “They’re at the age where it’s the prime age for these types of things.”

Briere will take his three boys with him to All-Star Weekend. He joins teammate Claude Giroux and coach Peter Laviolette.

This marks the second selection for Briere, who was MVP of the 2007 game after scoring one goal and four assists.
