DeSean goes deep yet again

On a day of big plays, DeSean Jackson was bound to get his.

The electrifying second-year wideout hooked up with quarterback Donovan McNabb for a 54-yard touchdown pass near the end of the first half of the Eagles’ 40-17 victory over the Giants. The scoring play was Jackson’s sixth of the season of 50 yards or more. That tied Timmy Brown’s team record, set in 1962. And the season is only half over.

“I am just being put into some great positions to go out there and get long touchdowns,” said Jackson.

The success of Sunday’s scoring play actually started in the film room, where the Eagles focused on a tendency in the Giants’ safety play. Then, it was just a matter of waiting for the right situation.

“That was a heck of a call by [offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg],” head coach Andy Reid said.

“They played it just like we hoped they would play it. That was a good call and that was a great route by DeSean.”
