If Pedro Martinez’s return to the Phillies is imminent, that is news to general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr.
“I’ve talked to his agent a couple of times, but if I were a betting man, I would not necessarily count on him, but that does not rule the possibility out,” Amaro said Tuesday.
Amaro also said that he had not seen Martinez throw and that he wasn’t negotiating with the righty, who was 5-1 with a 3.71 ERA in nine regular-season starts with the Phillies.
However, an ESPNdeportes report said the 38-year-old plans to pitch in the second half and he’s undergoing physical conditioning.
