Celebrating her 10th anniversary, Philly’s favorite drag queen Martha Graham Cracker — aka Pig Iron Theatre co-founder Dito van Reigersberg — will headline Diner en Blanc Philadelphiaon Thursday, backed by a four-piece band. Billed as “the world’s tallest and hairiest drag queen,” Martha Graham Cracker is known for sell-out shows featuring a musical cabaret comedy performance with songs (live, no lip syncing here) that range from Aretha Franklin to Motley Crue.

“I love things that are clandestine but also with gigantic crowds. Plus, I like the idea that people wear all white but aren’t too matchy-matchy. Coordinated but not draconian,” says Reigersberg, in character as Martha.
As for taking the show outside: “I love to sing with the band anywhere, but al fresco is unusual,” she says. “I hope bugs don’t zoom into my mouth on a high note.”
More than 4,500 people are signed up for the hush-hush pop-up dinner party, which takes place at a to-be-disclosed public location revealed to the guests, who are clad in all white, just moments before it starts. Last year the white-clothed tables stretched along Broad Street all the way from Chestnut Street to Pine.
Guests, who either have been to Diner en Blanc before or earned a spot through this year’s new lottery system, show up with their own tables, chairs, food and drink — and perhaps an extra bottle of bubbly to toast Miss Martha’s anniversary?
Also on the bill: The Canarsie Wobblers troupe will perform dances from the Jazz Age and Swing Era and DJ Sabeel Chohan will mix it up with EDM.
The Martha Graham Cracker Cabaret will continue the 10-year celebration Saturday at Union Transfer, alongside Johnny Showcase and Red 40.
