Dom Brown named NL Player of Week

Philadelphia Phillies v Detroit Tigers Dom Brown leads the Phillies in home runs and RBIs this season.

Things seem to be falling apart fast with the Phillies.

There weren’t too many positives to draw out of Monday night’s 9-3 beatdown in Boston. And while it won’t lessen the sting of that loss, one Phillie got some great news Tuesday.

Domonic Brown has been named the National League Player of the Week. Brown was batting .348 with two doubles, one triple, two home runs and seven RBIs in six games ranging from May 20-26. He’s the first Phillies position player to take the honor since Raul Ibanez in 2011.

Entering last night’s game, Brown led the Phillies in homers (10), RBIs (29) and slugging percentage (.475).

The team also got some encouraging news about Ben Revere. The center fielder jammed his left shoulder into a metal fence at Fenway Park while making a highlight-reel catch. X-rays came back negative.
