A Mayfair man has been charged with DUI and vehicular homicide following a fatal car crash in Northeast Philadelphia.
The accident happened shortly after midnight at Bustleton Avenue and Saint Vincent Street. Authorities said Robert Bregenzer, 33, was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon east on Saint Vincent when he ran a red light and struck a Honda Accord headed south on Bustleton, knocking it into the northbound lane.
The Honda collided head-on with a Jeep Cherokee.
The driver of the Honda, Liang Pan, and an unidentified passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep suffered bumps and bruises.
Bregenzer, of the 3100 block of Knorr Street, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle, DUI and related charges. According to 6ABC, police recovered drugs and drug paraphernalia from inside the vehicle.
“He appeared highly impaired, so he was arrested at the scene,” Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told the station.
