Philadelphia police are looking for an armed suspect who tried to rob a Catholic school in the city’s Olney section.
Authorities said the attempted robbery happened Monday at Saint Helena Catholic School on North Fifth Street. The suspect approached the delivery entrance door of the school around 6:30 a.m., posing as a delivery man, disguised with a fake bushy beard.
Once the suspect was let into the building, he pulled a handgun on an employee and demanded money, according to police. The employee led the suspect to a first-floor classroom where the employee was able to flee and call police.
After not being able to obtain any money, the suspect fled in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as a white male or light skinned black male, approximately 6 foot 3 inches, thin build, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, black baseball cap and a fake bushy beard.
Any with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847.
