Green Eagles flags and banners competed with red and pink Valentine’s Day decor on many Philadelphia blocks Sunday, as fans ran to the store for last-minute snacks and drinks before the Super Bowl kickoff.

As for any holiday, Philadelphians utilized their street-facing windows, creating displays to alert passersby of their team spirit.

At least a couple of brave residents flew Kansas City Chiefs flags outside their home, but they were far outnumbered. “It’s a Philly Thing” – the slogan of this year’s playoff run – decorations were popular, as were window hangings and signs that have been in use for years, if not decades.

Michelle Cifelli recycled some gear from the Eagles’ last Super Bowl, in 2018, to adorn her Tacony house. Family members began arriving before noon for the big game.

“I am so excited,” Cifelli said. “I feel really good.”
