The Eagles once again used creativity and front office forward-thinking to bolster their roster Tuesday.
As Adam Schefter reported — prior to several other sources confirming — the Eagles traded for Ravens defensive end Timmy Jernigan. And they didn’t give up much.
Essentially, Philly agreeded to move back 25 spots in the third round of the NFL draft (April 27-29), swapping third rounders and sending No. 74 to Baltimore in exchange for No. 99.
Jernigan was a second round pick in 2014 and was more of a rotational guy at defensive tackle. After giving Brandon Williams an expensive five-year deal, the Ravens round the 24-year-old Jernigan expendible — to the Eagles’ benefit.
Jernigan has 13 career sacks and 91 total tackles spanning his three-year NFL career. He will compete with Beau Allen to start at defensive tackle opposite Fletcher Cox with Vinny Curry and Brandon Graham manning the outside.
