Andy Reid addressed the media Wednesday in preparation for the Eagles’ opener Sunday in Cleveland. The coach confirmed that receiver Riley Cooper (collarbone) and safety Colt Anderson (ACL) were out. Everyone else is available to play, including defensive end Jason Babin (calf).
Quick hitters from the morning session:
» The receiving depth chart will be as follows: DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant and Damaris Johnson, who will handle punt returns
» Reid will be facing a rookie QB, in Cleveland’s Brandon Weeden. The Eagles saw him a few weeks ago in the preseason, with Weeden beating Nnamdi Asomugha deep on the first play of the game. Reid said he’s been studying that tape, as well as his college film
» As expected, Nick Foles will be listed as the No. 2 quarterback for the Birds
» Nate Allen said that he is 100-percent healthy after nursing a sore hamstring during the preseason. Allen admitted that this, his third year in the NFL, is a crucial year to show that he was worth a second-round investment. Still, he’s “not feeling any pressure.”
» Rookie DE/DT Fletcher Cox predicted 5-6 sacks for himself this season. He said he hasn’t let the emotions of playing in his first NFL game get the best of him yet, that will come later in the week. “My main focus today is to get practice in and go out and attack,” he said.
» Reid went on WIP earlier today and talked about Jeff Lurie’s comments that 8-8 wasn’t good enough. After Wednesday’s walk-through, the coach added, “8-8 in itself isn’t good enough. I’m all in, on board with that. But I’m not worried about all that right now, my focus is on the Cleveland Browns.”
