Terrell Owens was released Tuesday by the Allen Wranglers, a team in the Indoor Football League (IFL). OK, who didn’t see this coming, right? The shocking part is that Owens was actually a part-owner of the franchise and that stake has been terminated due to his failure to honor his contract. Despite making a six-figure salary, Owens reportedly blew off an upcoming charity event and refused to play in the Wranglers’ final two road games.
“It’s disappointing and unfortunate,” Wrangler owner Jon Frankel said of releasing Owens, “but [he] could no longer be tolerated by the Wrangler organization.”
Owens caught 35 passes for 420 yards and 10 touchdowns in eight IFL games.
