The Eagles signed nine of their 11 draft picks Wednesday, including second-round pick Jaiquawn Jarrett. Each player agreed on four-year rookie contracts. First-rounder Danny Watkins and seventh-rounder Greg Lloyd remain unsigned. Players without contracts can’t report to training camp.
On a related note, Eagles coach Andy Reid mentioned Watkins as his projected starter at right guard. He also admitted that rookies would be at a disadvantage in camp due to the shortened offseason.
“It will be a catch-up game for them [the rookies,” said Reid, before later adding that if a player misses time, it gives someone else an opportunity to get better.
Jarrett (6-foot, 196 lbs.), who is expected to compete for a starting job at safety, joined cornerback Curtis Marsh (6-foot, 197), linebacker Casey Matthews (6-1, 177), kicker/punter Alex Henery (6-1, 177), running back Dion Lewis (5-8, 195), guard Julian Vandervelde (6-2, 300), center/guard Jason Kelce (6-3, 282), linebacker Brian Rolle (5-10, 227) and fullback Stanley Havili (6-foot, 230).
Henery is expected to replace David Akers as the team’s starting place-kicker.
