The Eagles addressed one defensive need earlier Tuesday when they added defensive end Chris Long to the roster. They addressed another need later in the day, as the team announced it had reached a one-year deal with former Saints, Chargersand Colts cornerback Patrick Robinson.
Robinson has started 49 NFL games, but played in just seven last season due to a groin inury. He will be assured just $1 million in his new deal, according to Ian Rapoport, and will have to prove he still has it at 29-years-old after a few down years.
He was picked in the 2010 draft at 32nd overall and has 10 career interceptions. He will join the ranks of a very inexperienced cornerback group that includes JalenMills, C.J. Smith and Ron Brooks as an elder statesman.
Despite Robinson and Long’s signings, the team is still expected to explore adding cornerbacks and pass-rushers in the April NFL draft.
