All the pieces appear to be falling into place for the Eagles.
The team agreed to terms with first-rounder — No. 23 overall — Danny Watkins on a four-year contract Monday night. The 26-year-old is expected to start at right guard for Andy Reid’s squad.
Watkins, a former firefighter from Canada, didn’t start playing competitive football until he was 22. He also played ice hockey and rugby prior to becoming a part-time firefighter.
“I think he’s capable of doing that, yeah,” Reid said of Watkins possibly starting in his rookie year, at the NFL Draft. “We always try to bring in
guys that we feel are starters.”
Last week, Reid went on record saying that Watkins was penciled in as his starter at right guard.
