EDUCAUSE Convention Brings $22.8M in Revenue to City

EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit that promotes the intelligent use of information technology in higher education, is holding its annual conference at the expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center starting today and continuing through Oct. 21.

According to the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, the event will draw 7,000 attendees who will use 15,442 hotel room nights and bring $22.8 million in revenue to the city.

More than 300 sessions and seminars and 260 exhibitors will participate in the conference aimed at enhancing attendee’s knowledge of information technology infrastructure, cyber security, and how IT systems information can benefit a business or university.

Speakers include author and Squidoo.com founder Seth Godin, Senior Microsoft Researcher and professor Danah Boyd and Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie.

For the first time, the event will include the CIO and Senior IT Leader Experience, a program that allows attendees to connect and collaborate with colleagues, leaders and speakers in dialogue about the potential for higher education growth through IT systems.
