What is the Wizards and Witches Festival?

The Witches and Wizards Festival is a full day of mystical activities, but the fun starts the night before at the Brews & Broomsticks Pub Crawl. There are 10 participating bars from 7700 to 8700 Germantown Avenue that are offering specials for the crawl ($4 beer, $5 wine, $6 cocktails with the wristband). Expect two outdoor beer gardens, costumed actors, DJ Jamie Grimble and fortune tellers along Germantown Avenue, performances by circus aerialists and fire-breathers, a recreational archery range, a costume contest at Venetian social club and The Franklin Institute’s popular Science After Hours showcase.

The next day gear up for the grand event, the festival is jam-packed with a ton of enjoyable activities. Watch the 9th Annual Brotherly Love Cup Quidditch Tournament; the tournament returns this year with teams from visiting colleges and the local community teams competing in round-robin style Quidditch matches. The tournament starts a little earlier than the rest of the festivities at 10 A.M. For little tykes stop by the Hocus Pocus Headquarters (recommended for ages 3- 10) to take part in the kids’ crafting activities. You can pre-purchase your wristband for the HPH online for your kiddos, but parents are allowed in for free.
