A former basketball star at McCaskey High School in Lancaster will be tried for allegedly plotting the killings of three city cops.

Akeem Washington, 30, allegedly made the threats to his former cellmate after he was arrested for disorderly conduct on Dec. 28.

Officials said the former cellmate and a city detective testified about Washington’s alleged threats at a preliminary hearing on Feb. 10.

The affidavit says Washington threatened to kill two officers, a sergeant and the sergeant’s family.

Washington told the cellmate his plan was to make a fake phone call to lure the cops to his home where he would use assault rifles in the killings, the affidavit says.

Washington asked the cellmate for assistance by placing an anonymous call and acting as look-out, the affidavit says.

The former center, who averaged 10 points a game as a senior and helped his team win a sectional championship, will stand trial on four felony counts of solicitation to commit homicide.

In 2007, Washington was sentenced three to six years for cutting his ex-girlfriend’s neck with a box cutter.

He’s being held at Lancaster County Prison on $525,000 bail.
