FEMA: Aid Now Available for Tropical Storm Lee Damages in Philly

FEMA announced yesterday that Philadelphia homeowners, renters and business owners are now eligible for federal assistance to help
with damages due to Tropical Storm Lee, which struck on September 3.

FEMA’s
Individual Assistance program can help compensate eligible applicants for disaster-related
temporary housing, uninsured personal property losses and
medical, dental and funeral expenses.

Those
who suffered damages can apply for aid by calling FEMA at (800)
621-3362 or (800) 462-7585 for the hearing or speech-impaired, by contacting FEMA online or by applying on their smart phones.

Applicants must have ready the following information: name and Social Security number, address of damaged property, current address and telephone number where they can be reached, insurance information, total household annual income, bank account information for direct deposit and a description of damages.

Those who are not eligible may be qualified to receive low-interest
disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
