Fire at Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees, N.J., injures seven

Six students and a teacher at Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees, N.J., were treated for minor burns following an accidental fire in a science class, officials said.

The fire occurred during a science experiment in the early afternoon hours at the school on Laurel Oak Road, according to Voorhees Fire District Chief Jim Pacifico. He said the fire was extinguished by the time responders arrived.

Despite a report that one student suffered serious burns, Pacifico described the injuries as “minor burns.” He said the students involved were juniors and seniors.

No damage to the building was reported.
