First Lady Michelle Obama will be in Philadelphia this afternoon for a campaign event at the National Constitution Center.
The appearance signals that the presidential campaign is in full swing and, once again, Pennsylvania is a battleground state. The latest Franklin and Marshall College poll released today shows President Obama with a 12-point lead over Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
The First Lady is expected to fire up supporters and volunteers and encourage voters to register. This is the second time in three months Mrs. Obama has been in Philadelphia following an event in April with Dr. Jill Biden to announce an initiative for veterans and their families. She also made numerous stops here during the 2008 campaign.
Tickets are required for the 4:30 p.m. event. Motorists in Old City and Center City should expect delays.
