Fishtown RiverCity Festival is coming up this weekend

The Fishtown RiverCity Festival has activities for a wide range of people. The festival, which is free, is set for Saturday Oct. 8 at Penn Treaty Park by the Delaware River.

“We do everything we can to include local flavor in drawing our sponsors, local organizations, food trucks and local breweries,” spokesman for RiverCity Festival Neil Brecher said.

The Fishtown RiverCity Festival is brought together by the Fishtown Neighbors Association in order to build community, promote businesses in the area, and showcase the neighborhood. The festival begins at noon with the 5k FUN Run and will go until about 6 p.m.

The 5k FUN RUN, which will take place throughout the Fishtown neighborhood, will start and end at Penn Treaty Park.

The Fishtown Beer Runners will be placed throughout the race for moral support. A hospitality beer garden will be set up to offer runners and attendees brews from the Philadelphia Brewing Company, Second Story Brewing, Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company, and Philly Homebrew along with Evil Genius Beer Co. and St. Benjamin’s Brewing will be serving their RiverCity Ale.

While the 5k is going on attendees will be able to enjoy live music from local performers like, Creepoid, Amanda X, Creem Circus, Ben Arnold, Deb Callahan, and TJ Kon and the Atomic Bomb at the Eagle One Credit Union Mainstage.

The local vendors and businesses will have tents set up to display their many different arts and crafts.The PSPCA, ACCT Philly, and other organizations will be set up in the Pet Tent to promote their causes.

If you’re with the family the festival will also have an area with family related activities for young kids like a rock wall, moon bounce, inflatable obstacle and much more.

The RiverCity Festival is putting up a strong stance against Hurricane Matthew, which is making it’s way up the coast this weekend.
