Five charged in connection with Logan murder

Five men were charged Thursday with the murder of a 24-year-old man in Logan earlier this week, police said.

Khoeum Roeun, 24, of the 5200 block of North Marvine Street, was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the neck Tuesday and was later pronounced dead at Einstein Medical Center. A second man, Khoeum’s 23-year-old brother, suffered a gunshot wound to the foot. He is listed in stable condition.

Police said both were inside a vehicle that was double parked on the 1300 block of W. Ruscomb Streetaround 6 p.m. and were having a verbal confrontation with all five men.

During the argument, the men pulled out weapons, including a semi-automatic rifle, and fired several times inside the vehicle.

The men then fled into a nearby house.

The suspects barricaded themselves before SWAT officers surrounded the house and then gained entry and arrested the suspects. Several semi-automatic weapons and an assault rifle were recovered from the back of the property.

“Drugs was behind the argument,” Capt. James Clark said. “Somebody owed somebody money.”

Clark said he wasn’t sure which party owed whom, “But they tried to settle whatever this dispute was and it turned into a heated confrontation.”

He said he’s not sure it was gang related, but both were members of two different, police-known groups.

The five men were charged with murder, attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, violation of the uniform firearm act, and related offenses.

Their names are:

Sambatt Choub, 18, of the 100 block of Fern Street.

Tommy Savath, 21, of the 1300 block of West Ruscomb Street.

Jerry Savath, 22, of the 1300 block of West Ruscomb Street.

Rattanak Sarik, 28, of the 1300 block of West Ruscomb Street.

Davey Yath, 19, of the 4800 block of Old York Road.
