Five wounded in Tuesday morning shootings

Shootings around Philadelphia left five people hospitalized Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

Police said a 32-year-old man was shot once in the chest, twice in the right thigh and once in the left thigh just before 11 a.m. on the 200 block of E. Indiana Avenue in Kensington. Officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital, where he was in critical condition.

Several hours earlier, just before 6:45 a.m., two men were struck by gunfire several blocks away on the 600 block of E. Indiana Avenue, also in Kensington.

One of the men, described by investigators as in his early 30s, was shot once in the chin, once in the back, twice in the right arm and once in the wrist. The other victim, a man in his mid-30s, sustained a gunshot wound to his upper back.

Both were listed in critical condition at Temple University Hospital, according to police. It is not clear if the two shootings are related.

In University City, a verbal altercation ended with a 46-year-old man receiving a bullet graze wound to his right ear. Police said the incident occurred just before 3 a.m. Tuesday on the 3400 block of Lancaster Avenue.

The shooter turned themselves in, investigators said, though authorities did not release further information.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the left eye just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at the corner of Kelly Drive and Brewery Hill Drive, near Fairmount Park in North Philadelphia, police said. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

On Monday, a 24-year-old man was shot three times at around 7:30 p.m. on the 4000 block of Aldine Street in Mayfair, authorities said. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Earlier, just before 6 p.m., a 37-year-old man was taken to Einstein Medical Center after being shot in the upper back on the 100 block of Hansberry Street in Germantown. He is expected to recover physically, police said.
