Flyers look to return to form against Buffalo

It wasn’t long ago that Flyers fans were feeling on top of the world.

Ten straight wins at home, a 5-1 road trip and second place in the Metropolitan conference made the Flyers one of the hottest teams in the NHL.

But that seems like ages ago. In back-to-back losses this past weekend, the Flyers allowed 10 goals total, first in a 6-3 loss to the Lightning on home ice, and then a 4-1 loss to the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

The goaltending, led by Steve Mason, became one of the Flyers’ strengths during their recent hot streak, but it seems to be falling off and must return to form.

The Sabres, Philadelphia’s next opponent, have struggled all season long, as proven by their 13-26-5 mark. The team has gone to overtime in five of the last six decisions and has been unable to find its offense.

The Flyers have been red hot on offense, even with the goaltending blip against New York and Tampa this weekend.

Claude Giroux is in midseason form with 41 points this season to lead the Flyers.
