The Flyers made two minor moves in free agency Wednesday, inking defenseman Nick Schultz and right wing Andrew Gordon.
Shultz, 31, is a veteran defender who has 880 games of NHL experience. He split the 2013-14 season between the Oilers and Blue Jackets, collecting five assists in 69 games.
The 2000 draftee is the Minnesota Wild’s all-time leader in games played with 743, and scored 26 goals and 102 assists while averaging 19:35 minutes on the ice in ten seasons. His deal is reported to be a one-season pact.
On offense, the Flyers signed the 28-year-old Gordon to a one-year, two-way contract. Last season, the winger was in the Winnipeg Jets’ organization. He scored 23 goals and 34 assists to finish sec on din scoring for the IceCaps. He also led the squad to the Calder Cup finals.
Gordon does have NHL experience. He played in 12 games with the Capitals in 2010-2011 and 37 with the Ducks in 2011-12. In all, he has played in 55 games at the highest level.
