The accolades keep coming for Nick Foles, just like the cries from fans for him to start.
Foles was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week Wednesday. The quarterback completed 22-of-31 passes for 296 yards with four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing). His 133.3 passer rating was the highest against Tampa Bay since 2011. Ironically, he’s the first Eagle to win the award since Mike Vick back in 2011.
“I thought Nick did a really nice job, really, really happy with how we performed within our offense,” said coach Chip Kelly, after watching tape of last Sunday’s performance. “Did a good job of taking what the defense gave us. There were a lot of times he got us out of some bad plays and into some good ones with some decisions he made, so we were really happy with how Nick played.”
Meanwhile, Mike Vick isn’t progressing well from his pulled hamstring. He was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice and provided no optimism.
“It’s worse than what I thought it was going to be,” Vick said. “It’s just slow. It’s taking longer than I thought it would.”
Kelly has yet to officially name his starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against Dallas. He hasn’t given a timetable for doing so.
