For the love of Sushi: 3 Philly restaurants to try

While sushi is delicious anytime of year, the warmer weather makes it the ideal meal choice — being light, cool AND filling. It’s also super versatile, satisfying all manners of taste. Craving something salty? Add some soy sauce. In the need for heat? Help yourself to some wasabi. Have a sweet tooth? There’s certainly a fruity roll for that. Lucky for us, Philly abounds with excellent sushi options and although we all may have our tried and trusted local go-to’s in our, stepping outside of our metaphorical bento box can yield quite tasty results. Here are three restaurants you should try.

Dasiwa
735 N 26th St.

Foodies in Fairmount can’t help but rave about this sushi gem for its high quality sushi and low key atmosphere. They offer traditional rolls as well as specialty rolls like the explosive TNT Maki, which includes three types of fish and avocado deep fried and topped with spicy tobiko sauce. Did we mention this place is also BYOB?

Zama
128 S. 19th St.

For sushi lovers in Rittenhouse, Zama should definitely be on their radar. Offering a large menu, even repeat visits can offer you a new experience. The soft lighting and intimate atmosphere make it great for a date night, too. If you’re in the mood for dessert after dinner, the banana spring roll, mochi and creme brulee is to die for — combining creamy with a dash of fried crunch.

Vic Sushi
2035 Sansom St.

An uber driver once recommended this place and it’s become a personal favorite. While the space may be small, holding only about 15 people at the most, their menu simply explodes with flavor. If you don’t believe me, try the Mango Tango roll. Their prices are very reasonable too with rolls starting at $4.75 and they offer a fantastic lunch special. Don’t have time to wait for a place to sit? No need to worry — you can get it to go.
