Police are investigating two shootings in the Grays Ferry area of South Philadelphia that killed two people and wounded two.
Police found the body of Quinzale Stanfield, 21, at 8:22 p.m. on the 1500 block of South 26th Street near Tasker Street. Stanfield suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania shortly before 8:45 p.m.
The motive is unknown and police have not yet made any arrests.
A little over ten minutes later, officers responding to the 3100 block of Tasker Street observed a man shooting at another man. They asked him to drop his weapon. Instead, he turned toward the officers and began firing. No officers were injured.
The original shooting victim, Kevin Jones, 24, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead upon arriving at the hospital.
A 19-year-old woman, who police suspect to be a bystander, was shot in the neck and is in critical condition.
The gunman, 22, was shot once by police during a brief foot chase and is stable.
