Every month, Philadelphians can head to the Germantown Arts District for their Fourth Friday celebration, and in July, the theme will surround Caribbean Rhythms.
The celebrations are always to support and help the Germantown community and its thriving arts and culture scene, and to also provide a space for aspiring artists, musicians, and the community to share their talents and come together as one, as a release states.
And this upcoming Caribbean Rhythms Night will provide the same type of environment for Fourth Friday. “The Germantown Arts District’s July Fourth Friday event is going to be one of the hottest events of the summer,” said GAD Founder Kristen Clark in a statement.
Clark continued: “If you’re craving a tropical getaway but can’t find the time, don’t worry because we’ve got you covered. Join us in Germantown on July 28 for fun, food, and all things Caribbean. We have an amazing line-up of artists, performers, and vendors who will be bringing the party, and we cannot wait to share it all with our community.”
The owner and founder of the Germantown Arts District also notes the excitement about this month’s theme, the partnerships that have formed to help put this event together, and the outpouring of support from the community to help give local artists and vendors a chance to showcase their talents and businesses
This Friday starting at 6 p.m., the celebratory activation will feature Caribbean dishes, plus, visitors can also learn authentic Caribbean dancing, dance to Caribbean beats on the street, and shop from local Germantown business owners. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a party in Market Square Park (across from 5445 Germantown Ave.) where Philadelphians can find food from Grubaholics, drinks, live entertainment from DJ Matigeo, and vendors from all over the city.
The fun then moves indoors to The Kinesics Dance Dynamics Theatre (5427 Germantown Ave.) where a Caribbean-styled instructed dance class will be led by Ellie and more Caribbean Inspired food and drinks will be provided again by Grubaholics. Then, at 9 p.m., the same venue will then hold a Dance Hall House party with music from “international DJ sensation”, DJ Nash.
