Free tacos on Friday sounds like a dream, a whimsicalfantasyakin to winning the lottery.
It’s really happening, though, on Friday, Jan. 8 right off Rittenhouse Square.
Revolution Taco, 2015 Walnut Street, is celebrating its grand opening in fraternal Philly style by giving away the comforting concoctions. The celebrations occur between 12:00-1:00 p.m. and again between 4:00-6:00 p.m. “as an introduction to the neighborhood and to celebrate [the owners’]first brick and mortar storefront,” the restaurant says.
Owners Mike Sultan, Carolyn Nguyen and Alan Krawitzare each known for their mobile food trucks, Street Food Philly, Taco Mondo and Say Cheese. With Revolution Taco, though, they hope to forge a more stationary relationship with their customers.

The 900-square-footRittenhouse newcomer has a dining room that can seat 22 but also offers take-out, delivery and catering. Sultan, Nguyen and Krawitzplan to open for lunch and dinner seven days a week – they say they’re going to be open late nights, too.
Sultan said Revolution Taco will focus particularly on “big, bold flavors. Everything we do, there are flavors injected in every part of the taco and topping.”
The free tacos are limited to one per person and will be of the smoked chicken variety.
