For those Philadelphians planning to head to the shore this weekend, Chickie’s & Pete’s is going to make your drive much better.
“Free Toll Friday” is back for Memorial Day Weekend and the annual celebration includes food and fun for the whole family — not to mention, free tolls for drivers on the AC Expressway.
Chickie’s & Pete’s, along with the South Jersey Transportation Authority and Atlantic City Expressway, will be paying tolls for drivers at the Eastbound Egg Harbor, New Jersey Toll Plaza Exit — whether your paying cash or EZ Pass — this Friday, May 24, from 4 to 5 p.m.
In addition to free tolls, Chickie’s & Pete’s will host a family celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Farley Plaza, for the 100 Days of Summer Party, with plenty of food and drinks, including complimentary orders of their world-famous Crabfries.
“Free Toll Friday is one of my favorite summertime traditions,” said Chickie’s & Pete’s Chairman and CEO Pete Ciarrocchi in a statement. “It’s a great way to thank all those who have supported us over the years and kick off the summer in a fun way.”
During the outdoor celebration, Hershey’s Ice Cream, Mars, Carlo’s Bakery, Applegreen, and Monster Energy Drink will provide other complimentary food and drinks.
Chickie’s & Pete’s supports patriots
Chickie’s & Pete’s will also be honoring veterans by partnering with The Patriot Fund, a local charity that works to help veterans as they return from duty and re-engage into civilian life, by providing emotional, financial, and psychological support. As part of the celebration, when you order Chickie’s “Patriot Punch” cocktail Memorial Day Weekend, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to The Patriot Fund.
Live radio broadcasts hosted by WIP Sports Radio and WPHT 1210 Talk Radio will take place and include giveaways for lucky listeners in attendance.
The event will also include appearances by the New Jersey State Police K9 dog team and the Atlantic City International Airport Fire and Rescue Equipment, plus, meet and greets with Dalmatian puppies courtesy of The Funny Farm rescue sanctuary.
“We’re thrilled to roll out the red carpet for our annual 100 Days of Summer party and invite those visiting Atlantic City and the breathtaking vacation spots along the South Jersey shore to make the most of our service plaza amenities,” said SJTA Executive Director Stephen F. Dougherty in a statement. “There’s truly something for all ages from restaurants, car show, health check-ups, artisanal crafts, books, jewelry, and even a petting zoo for the kids.”
