Looking for some fun and unique things to do in Philly this weekend? We’ve got you covered.

Yappy Hour at Morgan’s Pier

The last Yappy Hour of the season is coming to Morgan’s Pier, and to celebrate, Tito’s Vodka is partnering up with the venue once again to invite Philly’s furry friends, and also, present a check to the Pennsylvania SPCA on Sunday, Oct. 22 from noon to 4 p.m.

According to a release, to help celebrate saving lives, a special dog costume contest will be judged by Natalie Egenolf and The NEW 96.5’s Bennett at 2 p.m., where pet parents and their furry family members will be invited to dress in their Halloween-best to win special prizes. And the check presentation comes from a cumulative effort of every American Mutt cocktail sold where Morgan’s Pier donated 100% of the proceeds and Tito’s personally matched with profits.

Lifting Your Voice

From motivational speaker Jen Croneberger and NBC10 anchor Tracy Davidson, Lifting Your Voice will take place on Sunday, Oct. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, and this season’s event will revolve around the word: Brave.

The all-day retreat is meant to be an immersive experience where there are plenty of activities centered on self-care, reflection, sharing and connecting and what you get with the $129 ticket is breakfast, lunch, all of the workshops included in the day, and a special Lifting Your Voice swag bag worth more than $150.

And as a release states, the full-day programming starts with breakfast and networking, and then transitions to discussions to help attendees rediscover their passion, quiet the negative voice inside, set a pathway to their intentions and help everyone feel connected to the positive women around the room — and most importantly— to themselves.

McGillin’s Olde Ale House

There’s a way to support Red October at one of the city’s oldest establishments, with the addition of a few new menu items at McGillin’s themed for the Phillies. Firstly, the famous venue will be pouring red beer, while also serving up shepherd’s pie with the Phillies logo.

McGillin’s will also be showcasing the Philli-tini made with Smirnoff vanilla vodka, pineapple and cranberry juices then rimmed in red sugar and garnished with an orange wedge; the Phanatic Drop made with Jim Beam, apple liqueur and Wyndridge Hard Cider; and the High Hopes made with Beefeater Gin, Angostura bitters, tonic and a lime wedge. Pair any of these while watching the Fightin’ Phil’s coming up.

Philadelphia True Crime Trolley Tour

Back for another spooky season in Philadelphia, Founding Footsteps is once again launching its fourth season of “The Philadelphia True Crime Tour”—which features live music and storytelling performances on their signature haunted BYOB trolley. As a release states, topics covered range from our nation’s first serial killer, H.H. Holmes, whose misdeeds began and ended in Philly, to an alarming number of serial killers that once called our city home.

Less dark topics include the debate over the city’s famed Barnes Foundation and more. The tour runs Thursdays through Saturdays throughout October. Tickets are $55 and the tour starts and ends at 601 Walnut Street.

Haunted Heights at Assembly Rooftop Lounge

Opening this weekend on Friday, Oct. 20, and running through Halloween on Tuesday, Oct. 31, this new activation will feature spirited décor, scary movies on TVs throughout the venue, themed cocktails, and more – plus a DJ spinning spooky tunes and classics on Fridays and Saturdays.

What brings Philadelphians to this rooftop establishment is typically the sights, but what keeps them there is the libation menu, and for Haunted Heights, Assembly is pulling out all the stops. The Mashing Pumpkins ($17) for one is made with George Dickel No. 8 Tennessee Whiskey, St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram, Turbinado syrup and lemon juice, while the Red Rum ($16) is made with rosé, Cocchi Rosa, dry vermouth, strawberry and lemon.

To complement the robust cocktail menu, Assembly is introducing a very special dessert as well, aptly dubbed Twilight Delight ($12), built with red velvet bread pudding, bourbon anglaise, and topped with a crispy meringue bone, a release states.
