Looking for some fun and unique things to do in Philly this weekend? We’ve got you covered.
WinTOUR Scavenger Hunt
It’s the last weekend to check out the annual WinTOUR Scavenger Hunt in Fairmount Park. Philadelphians can participate in the last weekly mission, which features different ways to explore the area. While completing the missions, Philadelphians will get a unique path of their own while exploring the 2,050 acres of trails, natural lands, historic landmarks, and public art of East and West Fairmount Park this winter.
Each week, teams that complete all of the week’s missions will be entered in a random drawing to receive a prize, whether the team participates for one week or all six. Fairmount Park Conservancy also sent out instructions on how to start the WinTOUR Scavenger Hunt: Head online to fill out a Google Form and receive the GooseChase game password at the end. Each participant on the team must fill it out to play and then if players don’t already have it yet, they can download the GooseChase app at goosechase.com/download.
Getaway at the Greenhouse
After working your way through the scavenger hunt, there’s another reason to visit Fairmount Park this weekend. Getaway at the Greenhouse at the Horticultural Center is meant to be a free tropical oasis for one weekend only in Philly. Open from Friday, Feb. 24 to Sunday, Feb. 26, the space will feature summer-inspired entertainment, food, art, and activities (such as a giant sandbox) as an escape from the winter cold.
A full list of daily events can be found online, but Philadelphians can expect games, activities, face paint, arts and crafts and a kids DJ (featuring Let’s Rock Recess). And as a release states, during the evening, the Greenhouse turns into a Happy Hour for adults with food, cocktails, live music, and activities. Tickets are free but can be reserved online on Eventbrite.

Liberty Kitchen After Dark
There’s a new collaborative dinner series coming out of Liberty Kitchen in Fishtown dubbed “Liberty Kitchen After Dark,” and it will feature some of the area’s top culinary minds. These “Sundee Gravy dinners” will be hosted twice per month moving forward, with 20 seatings per night generally starting early on a Sunday.
For the kickoff however, the experience starts during the week specifically (the second dinner will be offered on Feb. 23) with James Beard Foundation nominee Melissa McGrath of Sweet Amalia Market on site. Seating is limited for dinners, and interested parties can email events@libertykitchenphl.com to reserve their spots. All dinners are BYOB.
The next LK After Dark dinner (date TBD) will feature Paffuto Philly, a chef team of Jake Loeffler and Dan Griffiths which serves up fine Italian eats and treats, a release finishes.

Philly Bierfest
After two years, The German Society of Pennsylvania is bringing back its world-class beer-tasting event on Saturday, Feb. 25. Philly Bierfest is meant to showcase the state’s and Germany’s collection of brews, and thirsty Philadelphians can try them all. Patrons can try choices from a selection of Pennsylvania brewers from Eerie to Philadelphia, and of course, importers from Germany offering weizens, kölsches, dunkels and bocks spread between two beer halls in historic German Society buildings.
And as the release states, attendees will also enjoy German and American live music, from Pennsylvania Bluegrass to Polkadelphia’s oompah-funk, plus variety acts such as the Roller-Derby Arm-Wrestling, Berlin-Style BEERlesque and traditional Tyrolean Shuhplattler Folk Dancing. Guests can immersive themselves in the experience even more by participating in “pursuits and feats of strength”, such as the Beer-Jello Masskrugstemmen (aka a cheeky spin on Bavaria’s traditional “liter lift” contest), sponsored by the city’s local German taproom, Brauhaus Schmitz.
Philly Bierfest will take place at German Society of Pennsylvania on Feb. 25 from 2 to 5:30 p.m.
